A Home that smells like peace: LEMON BASIL SIMMER POT

There’s something sacred about a scent. A familiar aroma can shift the mood of a room, calm a racing heart and bring a sense of order to a busy day. That’s why I love simmer pots - especially simple ones using ingredients I already have on hand.

Today’s blend is a favorite: fresh basil, lemon slices and a splash of vanilla. It’s bright, clean and a little cozy. Just like a peaceful home should feel!

To make your own:

  • Slice 1 -2 lemons

  • Add a handful of fresh basil

  • Pour watering a small saucepan to cover ingredients

  • Add a teaspoon or two of vanilla extract

  • Bring to a gentle boil & turn down to allow simmer

As your simmer pot bubbles, enjoy the scent and added moisture in the air. The clean ingredients will offer physical and emotional benefits. You can keep this going for hours, checking the water level often and refilling as needed.

What I love most is how this tiny ritual invites in the slowness.. It says: You don’t have to do everything at once. You’re allowed to pause. To breathe.

The next time you desire a re-set, gather up these ingredients or others you have on hand. The world may rush, but in a peaceful home, we take our time!

From my heart and home to yours,

Wendy
